A few months ago, one of the main gates and one of the entrance piers was accidentally damaged by a third party. An emergency repair was carried out to make them safe but a proper repair needs specialist craftsmen which took some time to organize. We hope that the repair will begin shortly and is being supervised by a conservation architect who will liaise with the Cork County Council Heritage Officer. The parish is lodging a claim against the insurance department of the organization responsible for the damage.
