Holy Rosary Church Closure

Work on the new lighting and alarm systems in Holy Rosary Church will begin on Monday, September 15th . For this work to be carried out safely and efficiently, the Church will be closed for a two-week period from that date. The following arrangements will be put in place:

  • There will be no 8am weekday Mass.
  • The 10am weekday Mass will take place in Ballintotis Church.
  • Masses for Sunday, September 21st will take place in CBS Secondary School Hall, including the Vigil Mass on Saturday at 6.10pm. Sunday Masses will be 8am, 10am and 12noon as usual.
  • There will be no confessions on Saturday, September 20th or Saturday, September 27th
  • Any funerals which arise will take place either in Ballintotis Church or in St Mary’s, Carrigtwohill. We will consult with families and funeral directors as to which is more suitable.
  • Eucharistic Adoration will be suspended during that time, and the Blessed Sacrament will be removed from the Church.

All going well, we should be back to normal for the Saturday evening Mass on September 27th . I understand that this will cause some inconvenience, but the alternative to closing would have been a much longer period of disruption as well as significantly higher costs. Monsignor Jim Killeen, PP.
