For a Eucharistic life

The pope’s intentions for this month are ‘for a Eucharistic life’ and when we look at what he writes as the prayer for this topic we see a very clear understanding of what he means. He asks us to pray that Catholics may place the celebration of the Eucharist at the heart of their lives — he is highlighting the importance of the sacrament of the Eucharist in our lives. It is meant to be central rather than a ‘now and again’ or a ‘big occasion’ event. He also asks us to reflect on the fact that it can transform ‘human relationships in a very deep way’. When we are open to the reality that in the Eucharist we receive Jesus
Christ it strengthens our relationship with God and with all our fellow Catholics throughout the world who receive the same gift of God’s love and presence in their lives. A truly Eucharistic life is being in communion with God, his people and his creation, nourished through the sacrament and the word of God that speaks of God’s compassion and love for his people.
