Monday 8th February, International Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking. Was first observed in 2015 by Pope Francis. This date, 8th February, is the feast of St. Josephine Bakhita who was born in Sudan in 1868 and was brought as a slave to Italy where she became a Christian and later entered the Institute of the Canassian Daughters of Charity in Venice. She died in 1947.
St. Jerome Emilian is also celebrated on the 8. He died in 1537, After a military career he founded a religious order dedicated to the care of orphans and the poor. He is the patron saint of orphans.
Wednesday 10th is the Feast of St. Scholastica. She is the sister of St. Benedict and dedicated her life as a consecrated virgin. Patron saint of convulsive children.
Thursday 11th is World Day of the Sick. It is the feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Gobnait.
