Monday, October 25th Blessed Thaddeus MacCarthy was born in 1455. His appointment as Bishop of Ross was opposed and Pope Innocent VIII then appointed him Bishop of Cork and Cloyne. He set out as a humble pilgrim to Rome where he was confirmed as Bishop of Cork and Cloyne. On his return journey in 1492 he died in Ivrea, in Italy.
Wednesday October 27th St.Otteran is usually identified with Odhran who proceeded Columba in Iona. His death is recorded in 548, and his grave was greatly revered he was chosen by the Vikings as as patron of the city of Waterford in 1096 and later patron of the diocese.
Thursday, October 28th Ss. Simon and Jude: The teaching of the apostles is the living gospel for all to hear. Their authority comes from their fidelity to Christ and his message. St. Jude is patron saint of hopeless cases.
Friday, October 29th St. Colman of Kilmacduagh: lived in the seventh century. After studying in Aran, where he founded two churches on Inis Mor, he returned to home to make a foundation in Kilmacduagh.
