Wednesday, 30th November, St. Andrew the Apostle from Bethsaida was a disciple of John the Baptist when he was called by Jesus. He in turn brought his brother Peter to Jesus. He is said to have suffered martyrdom by crucifixion on this date. Patron saint of Scotland, Russia and fishermen.
Saturday, 3rd December, St. Francis Xavier, 1506-1552, one of the first seven Jesuits, was sent to India by St. Ignatius of Loyola. He converted many in Goa and later in Japan. He died as he attempted to enter China. A patron of the missions.
