Feast Days during the week

Monday 25th July, St. James, Apostle. Son of Zebedee and brother of John, called the Greater. He was put to death by Herod Agrippa about the year 44, being the first of the Apostles to die for Christ. His shrine is at Compostella in Spain.

Tuesday 26th July, Ss. Joachim and Anne, parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Traditionally named parents of Our Lady and grandparents of the Lord. Their feasts were celebrated separately until joined together in the Calendar reform of 1969.

Friday, 29th July, Ss. Martha, Mary and Lazarus welcomed Jesus as a family friend. Martha generously offered him hospitality, Mary listened attentively to his words and Lazarus promptly emerged from the tomb at the command of the One who humiliated death.

Saturday, 30th July, St Peter Chrysologus, bishop and doctor of the Church. died c.450.St Peter Chrysologus Bishop of Ravennna, famous for his preaching.
