Feast Days during the week

Monday 13th, St Anthony of Padua, priest and doctor of the Church. He died in Padua in 1231 at the age of thirty-six. Born in Portugal, he had joined the Franciscans and preached against heresy throughout France and Italy. Pope Pius XII proclaimed him a Doctor of the Church, designating him as ‘Doctor Evangelicus’ (The Evangelical Doctor or Doctor of the Gospels)

Tuesday 14th, St. Davnet lived and died at Sliabh Beagh, Co. Monaghan. Tradition speaks of her as being founder of a church or monastery. A staff said to have been hers has been preserved and, in the past, it was used as a test of truth.
