Feast Days

Monday 6th November, Feast of All the Saints of Ireland, this day is a day when we remember all the faithful of Ireland who have died and been welcomed into the kingdom of heaven — the Irish who are in the communion of saints but not canonised.

Tuesday 7th November, St. Wilibrord, was born in Northumbria in 658. He entered the Benedictine order and was sent to study at the monastery of Rath Melsigi, near Milford, Co. Carlow before going with eleven companions, to evangelize Frisia. He established a mission at Utrecht and in 695 was ordained Archbishop of Utrecht by Pope Sergius I. he founded a monastery at Echternach in Luxembourg in 700, where he died in 739.

Thursday 9th November, The Dedication of the Lateran Basilica. The Church of St John Lateran in Rome is ‘Mother and Head of all the Churches of the City and the World’

Friday 10th November, St Leo the Great, died in 461, taught the two natures, human and divine, of Christ at the Council of Chalcedon, 451, and the primacy of the See of Peter.

Saturday 11th November, St. Martin of Tours, 316-397, Bishop of Tours, apostle of rural Gaul, founder of monasteries. Patron saint of France, soldiers, beggars and innkeepers.
