In n.1076 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church it says this about Pentecost: The Church was made manifest to the world on the day of Pentecost by the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The gift of the Spirit ushers in a new era in the dispensation of the mystery — the age of the Church, during which Christ manifests, makes present and communicates his work of salvation through the liturgy of his Church ‘until he comes’.
After Pentecost Sunday we return to Ordinary Time in the Liturgy. The Sunday Readings are from Cycle A and the Weekday Readings are from Cycle 1. It is the 8th Week in Ordinary Time.
Over the next two Sundays we cover two more important Feast Days – on the weekend of the 3rd/4th June we celebrate the Most Holy Trinity and, on the 10th/11th, The Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ (Corpus Christi).
