Friday 29th June – Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul. This feast honours the martyrdom in Rome of the apostles Saint Peter and Saint Paul. St Peter was a fisherman who became leader of the apostles and the rock on which the Church was built. He was martyred by crucifixion around the year 64AD. St Paul was the “Apostle to the Gentiles (pagans)” and he was martyred by beheading around the year 67AD.
