Midleton Parish invites all parishioners to participate in a Special Day of Prayer in Holy Rosary Church, on Saturday January 10th 2026, to mark the closing of the Jubilee Year of Hope and to ask God’s blessing on the year ahead as we begin the process of discernment regarding our parishes in the future. Neighbouring parishes will be invited to participate. Further detailed information will follow after Christmas. All are welcome.
On Monday 29th December from 2.30pm to 4.50pm and 6.50pm to 9pm and also on Tuesday 30th December from 2.50pm to 7pm, the Irish Blood Transfusion Service is in the Talbot (Park) Hotel and all who are already donors and those who may wish to begin to donate blood are asked to do so on those days.
The parish clergy wish you all a very happy New Year. Thank you for all your support during 2025 and, please God, we will enter the new year with hope in our hearts and minds.
During the year ahead we will be celebrating the usual major days, such as Confirmation and First Holy Communion Days, and we keep all who are preparing to receive those sacraments in our prayers. We also ask you to keep praying for the diocese as a whole as we progress with the programme in relation to looking at the needs of the diocese over the next five to ten years. Work continues to go on and in the new year the details from the parish discussion will be shared and discussion will continue on all levels within the diocese — local, deanery and diocesan levels. We ask the Spirit to guide us all in the work that has to be done and may the result of all the deliberation, consultation and final decision-making bear fruit in the future and that the Good News preached by Jesus, born in the stable of Bethlehem, the innocent child, will continue to inspire the present generations and the next to recognise God’s love for all people.
