There are two saints whose feast days are this week — St. Caelach (Celsus) and St. Francis of Paola.
St. Francis of Paola (1416-1507) was born in Calabria. He became a hermit and attracted others to his way of life. His feast day is Saturday (2nd April).
St. Celsus, born in 1080, became Abbot of Armagh in 1105. He presided at the Synod of Rathbreasail in 1111. That Synod was responsible for setting up the diocesan and parochial boundaries of Munster that are more or less the same to the present day. On a visit to Munster in 1129 he died and was buried in Lismore.
