In today’s Gospel we read St. Mark’s account of the Transfiguration. The apostles with him, Peter, James and John, see Jesus transfigured and Moses and Elijah are present with him. The apostles get a glimpse of Jesus’ glory and also get to see the Lord together with the symbolic figures of Moses and Elijah; Moses representing the Law and Elijah the prophets. Jesus takes on our humanity to fulfil the Law and the Prophets and that is why both the Old and New Testament are important to us. The apostles also experience the voice of God, ‘This is my Son the Beloved, Listen to him.’
